Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Photolio: Contact Manager, Photolio: Group Photo, and the associated Photolio website (collectively, "Photolio"), operated by Jun Wang. By downloading or using either app or using the website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use these services.
Who can use Photolio
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Photolio. If you use the app on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
Your account
You can use Photolio as a guest or create an account. If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
Subscriptions (Photolio Pro)
Photolio: Contact Manager offers an optional paid subscription, Photolio Pro, which increases the number of identities and photos you can keep in Photolio. Signed-in free accounts also receive cloud sync and backup within the free limits.
- Pro is sold as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or annual) through the Apple App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription automatically renews at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID account settings (App Store → your account → Subscriptions). Deleting either app or your shared Photolio account does not cancel an Apple subscription. If you subscribe to Photolio Pro, cancel it separately through Apple to stop future renewals. You can manage your Apple subscriptions here.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- Prices may vary by region and may change over time; we will give notice of price changes as required. Purchases, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms; refund requests are subject to Apple's policies.
- If your subscription lapses, your account returns to the free identity and photo limits and your on-device data is kept. Cloud-stored photos are retained for 90 days and then removed; contact details and other text information remain available and continue to sync within the free tier. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Your content
Photolio lets you create and store content such as photos, names, contact details, and groups ("your content"). You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a limited license to host, store, process, and display your content solely to operate the app for you (for example, to sync it across your devices and to render the card information you choose to share).
You are responsible for your content, and you represent that:
- you have the right to add and share it; and
- it does not infringe others' rights or violate any law, including adding someone else's personal information without a lawful basis.
Automatic photo regions
On supported iOS devices, both apps offer optional Auto regions to suggest editable regions using on-device face detection. The tool does not identify or authenticate people, automatically assign names, or establish relationships between people. It may miss faces or suggest inaccurate regions. You are responsible for checking and correcting the regions and any names or person links you add before saving or sharing. You can use manual region editing instead.
A suggested region does not establish that a person has consented to the use of their image or information. You remain responsible for having a lawful basis and any necessary rights or permissions to process, label, upload, and share your content. Auto does not itself publish content or change sharing permissions. See the Auto regions privacy explanation for the distinction between local detection and normal account storage.
Group Photos
Photolio Group Photo lets a creator publish one photo with optional descriptive text, names, links, contextual subtitles, and manually drawn or automatically suggested regions. Save / Done creates a private cloud draft; publishing is a separate action. Anyone who receives an enabled Group Photo link can see the photo and basic text. Passcode mode protects identity details and interactive regions, but it does not hide the photo, title, description, or date.
Users are responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights and permissions to upload and share photos and other content through Photolio. You are responsible for distributing links and passcodes. A recipient may retain screenshots or copies outside Photolio. Creators can disable the stable link or delete the Group Photo, but Photolio cannot recall copies already made by recipients.
Acceptable use
Photolio has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You agree not to:
- use the app for any unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or abusive purpose;
- upload or share content that is illegal, sexually exploitative, graphically violent, hateful, threatening, harassing, fraudulent, or infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights;
- attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours;
- interfere with, disrupt, probe, or reverse engineer the service, except as permitted by law;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation; or
- use the app to exploit, harass, intimidate, or harm others.
Reporting, blocking, and enforcement
You can report an externally received or publicly discovered profile
from its action menu and block it for the identity you are currently
using. You can review or reverse blocks under
Settings → Blocked Profiles. Reports are confidential and
are not shown to the reported account.
A Group Photo viewer can report the shared photo, and an unlocked viewer can request removal of one tagged appearance. We may remove that appearance, disable the link, unpublish the photo, or take a broader action when identity verification and policy review justify it. A removal request is not an automatic determination that the creator violated these Terms.
We may review reported or shared content and related account activity. If we reasonably believe content or conduct violates these Terms, creates a safety risk, or exposes us or others to legal liability, we may reject or remove content, restrict sharing, suspend access, or terminate the account. We may also preserve or disclose information when required by law. To report an urgent safety concern that cannot be submitted in the app, email support@photolioapp.com.
Sharing
Photolio lets you share an identity card with people you choose, via a QR code or link. You are responsible for whom you share with and what you include. Anyone who receives a share code or link may view the information on that card.
Public Profiles and Usernames
An eligible account owner may claim one globally unique Username for an identity and separately enable an anonymous Public Profile. Eligibility requires a Public identity, a reviewed and approved publication, an active Username, and the owner's anonymous-access setting. Photolio may disable Public Profiles globally or restrict an individual Profile for safety, legal, security, capacity, or service-integrity reasons.
Claiming a Username is permanent. A Username cannot be edited, transferred, released, sold, or reused, including after you delete the Profile or account. Do not claim a name unless you are prepared for that permanent reservation and have the right to use it without impersonating another person or organization.
When anonymous access is on, anyone may view the stable Public Profile URL without signing in. It contains the last approved public projection, approved thumbnail or fallback, and any Handles you individually choose to publish, including shopping and creator-support links. Enabled phone numbers and email addresses are shown in full and may be opened directly. Viewers and external services may save, screenshot, or cache what they receive. A signed-in Block does not stop an unidentified anonymous viewer. You can stop new anonymous responses by disabling a Handle, turning off anonymous access, or changing the identity's Visibility; this does not release the Username or recall copies already saved elsewhere.
You are responsible for every Handle and external link you publish and must have the right to share it. Do not publish malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, privacy-invasive, or unlawful destinations. Photolio does not control or endorse third-party sites or services reached through a Public Profile and is not responsible for their content or practices.
Following
People who receive an identity through a QR code or link may be able to Follow it. Depending on the identity's settings, a Follow may be approved automatically or require approval. Requesters may cancel pending requests, recipients may deny them, followers may Unfollow, and users may Block identities. Following does not override an identity's visibility, publication, or safety restrictions.
Public discovery
If you set an identity to Public, its last approved profile card may appear to signed-in users in Global Search. Users may find it by its approved name, subtitle, public tags, or eligible social and website handles. Phone numbers and email addresses are not searchable through the public directory. You can remove an identity from public discovery by changing its visibility, subject to the app's current visibility and sharing rules. Other users may Report or Block profiles they discover.
Service changes
We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time. We will try to avoid disrupting your use of the app, but we do not guarantee that any feature will always be available.
Termination
You may stop using the apps and delete your shared account from either
app at Settings → Account → Delete Account. This
permanently deletes the shared account and its saved content in both
Contact Manager and Group Photo, not just one app, and disables Group
Photo sharing. Independent Group Photo guest drafts remain on your
device until you discard them or remove the app. Account deletion does
not cancel an Apple subscription; manage it separately as described
above. See our Privacy Policy for deletion and
retention details. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate
these Terms or use the apps in a way that could cause harm or legal
liability.
Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that your content will never be lost.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the app.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
